How to Measure for Sweet (fitting) Blinds

Inside Mount Outide Mount

Inside Mount

Make sure the window opening is deep enough to accept and install the mounting bracket. Please contact us regarding the recessed mounting depths for each product.

Measure the width inside the window opening at the top, middle and bottom. The top measurement must be exact for the headrail to fit. Vertical applications only require a measurement at the top.

Measure the height inside the window opening at the left, right and center.

Measure the window diagonally. If the two diagonal dimensions are not exactly the same, it may be necessary to use an Outside Mount (OM) treatment for optimal light controll and privacy.

The ordered width should ensure a precise fit for the headrail and allow proper operation of shade. If widths in the window vary, use the shortest measurement to allow the shade to go up and down.

The ordered height should ensure a clean operation at the base of the window as well as provide maximum privacy and light control. If heights in the window vary, order the shortest height for vertical treatments and the longest height for horizontal treatments.

Outside Mount

Measure the width across the window where you want the blind to cover. You can typically add 4 to 6 inches (2 to 3 inches on each side) to the actual width of the window to ensure that the sunlight doesn't peak through the ends and to improve insulation. Record the measurement. (Caution: if you add an excessive amount to each side, creating a shade much longer than the window's width, your shade or blind may appear overly large when the shade is raised and the window frame beneath can be seen.)

Measure the height of the window where you want the blind to cover. Record the tallest measurement.

Record your measurements as WIDTH & HEIGHT.

The factory will not take any deductions from your measurements. Deductions are only taken for inside mounts. Your blinds/shades will arrive with the exact measurements you provide.

Blinds stack at the top. If you do not want the blinds to obstruct your view when fully stacked, allow enough room above the window for the stacking.

Double check your measurements! There are no refunds or returns based on incorrectly measured, recorded or conveyed measurements.
